At federal level, the EU Constitution has been approved on 28th April 2005 by the Senate and on 19th May 2005 by the Chamber of Representatives. It has also been approved by all Regions but the Flemish Region.

Debate in the Flemish parliament

More than 15.000 signatures have been collected after a call by Georges DEBUNNE (founder of the European Trade Union Confederation ETUC), Jef SLEECKX and Lode VAN OUTRIVE to have a debate in the Flemish parliament.

The rules of the Flemish parliament allow any citizen to make a request to "change a policy or a rule". If this request is supported by a minimum of 15000 people officially living in Belgium, then the Flemish parliament is obliged to organise the hearing of the first person who signed the request.
